Sedona in the Fall: The Colors You'll Fall For
Sedona is one of those places I’ve returned to again and again. After many Grand Canyon guiding trips, I found myself back here in different seasons, and fall is still my favorite. As you walk through town, the trees along the creek gorge begin to turn, and every so often you look over and catch those golden and amber tones glowing against the desert landscape. The air turns crisp, the light softens, and the whole place feels just a little gentler.
What makes fall such a great time to be in Sedona is the weather. Mornings and evenings are cool and refreshing, afternoons are warm and golden, and the temperatures feel especially comfortable for being outside. It is the kind of season that makes you want to linger over that first sip of coffee in the morning air, spend more time hiking or walking, and actually enjoy sitting outside on a patio without feeling overheated or chilled.
If you are planning a fall visit, keep it simple. Leave space for a slow morning, time outdoors, and a few moments where you are not trying to turn every hour into an agenda. One of the fun things we’ll be doing on the retreat is going through town to get aura photographs taken, which feels playful and very Sedona.
I also recommend checking current local conditions before planning outdoor activities. The Visit Sedona fall foliage guide is a helpful resource for seasonal information and local updates. Fall is a popular time to visit, so planning ahead is worth it, even if you still leave room for discovery.
Why I Created the Sedona Soul Retreat
I’ve always wanted to create a retreat in Sedona, and fall felt like the best time to do it because it is one of my favorite seasons there.
From October 1–4, 2026, we’ll gather at a private estate in Sedona for a few days that feel personal, welcoming, and intentionally unhurried. The retreat includes wellness mornings, free time to explore town, and experiences that help you connect with the landscape in a more meaningful way.
One of the highlights will be an Indigenous-led sunset walk. We’ll also take a private Jeep vortex tour, which makes a real difference because parking at the vortex sites can be challenging and the Jeep allows us to see more without that stress. In the evenings, we’ll gather for sound baths on the patio under the stars.
It’s the kind of retreat where you can participate fully, take quiet time for yourself, and enjoy Sedona without feeling overscheduled.
Come Experience the Season With Me
If you’ve been waiting for a reason to step away from your usual routine, this is a beautiful time to do it. And if you would like to experience Sedona in the fall with a very small group, I would love to welcome you to the Sedona Soul Retreat, October 1–4, 2026. The retreat includes round-trip airport transfers from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX), so the journey begins with fewer logistical concerns and more space to be present.
Warmly,
Tara
